There are two types of people:
People who become incredibly productive when they’re overwhelmed.
– or –
People who get so overwhelmed that they procrastinate even more.
Which one are you?
(Think about it)
I have a habit of falling into the second category. When I have too much on my plate, I tend to continue to put it off. I guess that’s from some habit I formed in my childhood. I have been working on improving my time management skills. (Send your book recommendations or suggestions my way!).
I am part of five-or-so AMAZING blogging groups where we share our time management tips for blogging.
[Now that I think about it, we all just complain about how we have no idea how to manage our time and how we never sleep.]
I even purchased and downloaded 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey on Audible because I read that Buffer created their business around these foundations, and I love everything about Buffer. I found it very inspiring, and felt that the habits really emulated the same lifestyle habits that Buddhism and yoga emphasize. It helped, but I probably need an organize-your-life coach. (know one?)
Since I know you have nothing better to do than get excited about my next yoga update, you’re probably staring wide-eyed into the computer screen at my blog hitting refresh, refresh, refresh (jokes). That must be very underwhelming and disappointing since my blogging activity has greatly slowed down over the last month. Thank you and I’m sorry.
So much is happening….
Let me explain…..
I have a full time accounting job, but I’m not an accountant. I’ve been doing it for eight years, and I have to say, I’m pretty good at it. The only problem is, all I can think about while I’m sitting in front of these excel spreadsheets is how I want to teach more yoga, customize my blog, and hang out on Instagram. There is someone out there that is passionate about numbers, invoices, and accounting systems, and it’s time I stepped out of the way to open up this opportunity for the right person (this is someone’s dream job!).
It seems like I always have these amazing ideas for posts (while I’m at work), and the best of intentions to get something up here, and then by the time I get home from work, I’m dead on the couch. It’s either that, or stay up until 2am working on a post, then drag my feet in yoga practice the next morning.
See where I’m going? This was a huge wake up call that I needed a BIG change. Something had to give, and it wasn’t going to be my blogging or yoga.
Fact: The only answer was to start my own yoga business
– It’s Time Do What I Love –
Trying to start my own dream business while working a full time job has been a bit hectic (hence the low blog activity). When do I just get time to just lay on the couch and watch reruns of Twin Peaks?
It’s my dream to create a career filled with yoga-everything. I don’t want to just be a yoga instructor that runs around from studio to studio (nothing wrong with that, by the way), but I want to help people integrate the tools of yoga into their life on and off of the mat. I want to encourage you to practice yoga daily, and then be your personal coach so that you can be happy, abundant, healthy, and live life purposefully. I want to guide you out of the clouds into a place of clarity.
So, What Does This Mean?
I’m glad you asked…
As a yoga teacher and mentor, my goal is to help you live a purposeful, abundant, and stress free life. In addition to providing local one-on-one yoga sessions, I give continued training and guidance on how to use these tools through digital courses in your daily life. This is something I had to learn on my own, but a service I could have used when I was struggling.
Why am I doing this?
When my life became crazy busy, I had to move my practice to my home. I struggled daily to get on the mat. I felt lost in life because I wasn’t doing what I was passionate about. I had a hard time getting out of bed because I had to go into a job that that drained me. My practice was suffering, and so was my blogging. That had a negative effect on me since I wasn’t able to work on what I loved and what gave me purpose. I am grateful for these experiences. I had to have them so that I could be pushed to a point of discovering a way to follow my path. Now, I can teach people in similar situations what I learned, and help take steps towards living a more fulfilling life.
Do you want a structured three month program of videos released with modules on starting your practice at home? Do you want guided meditation downloads? Do you want a 30 days to healthier habits which would include yoga videos, self-improvement modules, and how to structure your diet around your yoga practice? Oh, what about this: 30 days vegan detox: Balanced meal plans on living a healthy and safe vegan diet for 30 days.
Do you want something I didn’t mention? Your homework is to leave your ideas and needs in the comments.
One More Thing: I want to tell you what’s next for The Yogi Movement:
I’m excited to be back & it feels AMAZING! I’m doing a little bit of rebranding. You’ll notice some things changing over the next few weeks on the blog (so please check back as I update)! My blogs are going to focus more on yoga practice and guidance, self improvement, healthy and mindful living, and yogic diet practices.
I’ll still do occasional posts on blogging tips, entrepreneurship, and social media tips, but they have their own home over at The Blog Bar!
Feels SO good to be “home” with you again, friend.
Truly – ask me anything – and I’ll use your comments as an idea bank for all blog posts and courses that I’ll create in the weeks and months to come.
Deal? Deal.
